Drinks Are On Me: Chef Robert Irvine Fired By Food Network

  • Randy Hall · 1 year ago
File that one under "Sooner or later, the truth will catch up to you."

The shame of it is that he's a capable chef/cook, but dang, don't you figure that eventually word would get around and someone would debunk the fabricated resume? Hopefully it serves as a lesson.

Amazing. Maybe he can start over and send in an audition tape to Gordon Ramsey and get on next seasons Hell's Kitchen.

That's too bad, I really liked that show. Too bad he couldn't rely on his TALENT instead of a puffed up piece of paper!

Shame on the Food Network. Surely depriving someone of their job is a bit too much for lying on one's resume since the man can certainly cook!!!. Getting fired would make sense if he coulen't cook like a champion but we all know the man is an outstanding chef.Does anyone know if Chef Irvine has another job yet?? Where is he working??
  • SHARON E. DENNISS · 1 year ago
DOES ANYONE KN0W WHERE CHEF IRVINE IS PRESENTLY WORKING? HOPE HE STILL HAS SOME AFFILIATION WITH FOOD NETWORK AS HE'D MAKE A MARVELOUS TEACHER FOR CULINARY STUDENTS.
  • Denise Vines · 1 year ago
Chef Irvine was great on this show and I will certainly miss him. It won't be the same without him. The Food Network should take some of the blame for this problem. Don't they check out the resume before hiring or just after they have a successful show?

Irvine was entertaining on Dinner Impossible. So when is The Food Network going to fire Sandra Lee? I nearly choked when a Chefography program on Lee proudly proclaimed she had attended (or graduated?) from the University of Wisconsin. That would mean she graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the flagship campus of the UW System. She attended -- for a single year -- the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She is no chef; she's not even a good cook. She displays her main "talent" in low-cut tops.

If Irvine is fired for lying, Ms. Lee should be next.

Too bad ! What was he thinking? The truth always wins. A very enjoyable show too bad it had to end for him on a bad note. He's talented and has TV presence and he can cook.. What a shame for a career to go up in smoke because of a series of lies..
  • michele · 1 year ago
Who cares about his resume? Bobby Flay never cooked for the Royal Family either. The guy's a real chef and can outcook all the food network yo-yo's. They're making a mistake in letting him go.
  • Rosie · 1 year ago
Now that some time has passed, the truth has come out. Chef Robert DID cook at the White House and for the Royals. Bragging is not the same as lying, and as Food Network has found out, what a mistake they made. Symon is a great NEW chef, but can't compete with the real deal. You want to know more about the real man? visit www.chefrobertirvineblog.com, read his comments and those of his bloggers.

A Grad of 04 Le Cordon Bleu School Pasadena , Ca
Bull Crap , the dude was kicking a** every show. So what Royal Family, I see the Food N. still showing his shows & making money ha . He could start his own major network show. We all make mistakes look at
    Washington , D.C? Forgive & move on.

    Bring back Chef Robert Irvine.

Chef Irvine is an outstanding person and an amazing chef.

Food Network is loosing many of their talented chefs and is getting away from what they originally started out doing.

Getting rid of Chef Irvine was one of the other big mistakes that they have done.

Chef Michael Symon is an amazing chef and a very talented Food Network star. However, he is not Chef Robert Irvine.

Bring back Chef Irvine on Dinner Impossible.
  • Shari Johnson · 1 year ago
Chef Robert "Rocked" he could blow Symon out of the water with one hand behind his back. If I want to be served by a Sous chef who looks like he works at "Jiffy Lube" I call Symon, if I want class I'll call George and all his friends. Food network has forgotten it's Class Factor. I agree with the Sandra Dean comment. Chef robert deserve's Better. See ya Food Network, stick a fork in me I'm done, . But not Symon's. Cat Cora would have been a better choice, If you wanted an Iron Chef , she is a true Class Act.

I actually got to work with Chef Irvine on an early episode of DI (the dinner train). He was an incredibly nice person to work with, was not at all full of himself - in fact, at one point there were no glasses handy and we were swigging Tempranillo from the bottle. I'm really kind of amazed and sad about this. (Check posts on elbloggotorcido.com for Nov 2006 for more background on that DI episode.)

But I am happy to hear that DI is going to a one hour format. The show was never very satisfying at 30 minutes.

Please bring back Robert to Dinner Impossible. Symon is just offensive to watch. He laughed at making Kosher food and did not wear his yamica. It was explained to him he had to wear it in the building while cooking. Robert wasentertaining to watch and did a great job on Dinner Impossible. He also has more class and is a chef where Rachel is just...Rachel. Please bring back Robert!!!!!!

Chef Robert Irvine made a mistake - how many of us haven't done that??? That doesn't make him less talented as a chef and a showman. Michael Symon cannot carry Irvine's apron!!! Not only is Symon offensive but look at his hands, focus particularly on his dirty fingernails!!! The way he dresses makes you feel as though he's just not concerned about good hygiene. So I will not be watching Dinner: Impossible in the future. That's unfortunate in that my friends and I truly enjoyed that show, enjoyed Robert Irvine. He added a touch of class to the show. We miss him very much and hope he's doing well. It seems to me that a resume` is a tool for hiring; once you've proven yourself to be skilled in your profession then who cares about a resume`? I think that's called gagging at a gnat and swallowing a camel!!!

What is all this talk about putting the chef back on the job. There are consequences when you lie.

Is it ever OK to lie on a resume? No, but sometimes you do not have to tell the whole "truth."

Another area that many job seekers do not realize is that the internet can be used to uncover a great deal about a job applicant. Google your name and what do you find? How about posts on blogs, my face videos, etc.

    to john groth:

you are correct lying has consequences, but if you are truly repentitive of your actions, a second chance is posssible no impossible. lying is wrong, no way around it, but forgiveness is the greater good. i say give chef robert a second chance!!!

I can't believe the outrage for a chef, who is exceptionally good, for "enhancing" his resume when this country has not only accepted, but looked the other way when our own government (the executive branch to be precise) has lied for 8 years and no one has screamed at the top of their lung about it. John, I hope you are actively seeking for the impeachment of our President as righteously as you are condemning chef Irvine!

    Bring back Chef Irvine.
Certainly the show is a miss without him. He is capable and funny and adds so much fun to all the episodes of Dinner Impossible. With everything he has done..........who cares whether he cooks for the royalties. It is ceratinly a bad decision for the network. I will miss him dearly on the show. Probably not going to watch this program again!

Yes bring back Chef Irvine that's the only cooking show i watch. I think he is a very good chef and a good person, so what he lied on his resume, i think we have all have exaggerated on our resumes some what to get a job. Ive been a firefighter for 31 years and we do a lot of cooking at work and I've learned to be a better cook because of him.

I really did not like him anyway, I thought he was extremely rude and very full of himself....I really like Chef Michael Simon, he has a great sense of humor and a great personality.

I enjoy that show so much - I think Robert is a great chef!
